Hot-rolled plate is an important steel product, which mainly reflects the needs of industrialization. The manufacturing process is simpler than that of cold-rolled steel plates, and the cost is also lower. However, foreign experience shows that the hot rolling method is only suitable for manufacturing steel plates with a thickness of more than 1.6 mm. It is not economical for thinner steel plates. The surface quality and dimensional accuracy of hot-rolled steel plates are not as good as those of cold-rolled steel plates. In addition to frame longitudinal beams, cross beams and various brackets, hot-rolled steel plates on automobiles are also used for stamping wheel rims, wheel discs, etc. that require a certain strength, as well as shell covers that are not subject to much force and have low surface requirements. The former is a steel plate with a thickness of 3-5 mm, and the latter is used for both medium and thin plates. The amount of hot-rolled plates used in automobiles is mostly thick plates. In the automotive hot SLSN plate standard formulated by the Japan Automobile Association, the SAPH type is used for beams and wheels, and the SPH type is a hot-rolled soft steel plate used to manufacture shells that are not subject to force.
